ZeptoMail comes from Zoho, the Chennai-based software company that has spent nearly three decades building an enormous catalog of business tools, mostly without taking outside venture funding, which is unusual enough in this industry to be worth mentioning on its own. Zoho already had a marketing email product called Zoho Campaigns, but the two kinds of traffic don't mix well on shared infrastructure, so the company built ZeptoMail specifically to keep transactional sends on their own dedicated reputation, separate from whatever a Campaigns customer might be blasting out that week.

It's not an AI product, and the pricing model is the main reason people bring it up anyway: you pay per email sent with no required monthly minimum, which suits a small app with unpredictable volume far better than a flat monthly plan that assumes you'll use most of it. It won't feel as polished as Postmark or as instantly familiar as SendGrid if you've never touched a Zoho product before, but if your company already runs on Zoho Mail, Zoho CRM, or any of the dozen other Zoho tools, ZeptoMail slots in without the usual friction of adding an entirely new vendor to your billing and account setup.
