Transactional email API from the MailerLite team, with generous free-tier limits
MailerSend is the transactional sibling of MailerLite, a Lithuania-based email marketing tool that built a loyal following among creators and small businesses by being cheaper and better designed than Mailchimp without trying to do everything Mailchimp does. MailerLite itself grew slowly and mostly organically rather than chasing a venture-funded blitz, and MailerSend, launched a few years later, follows the same pattern: solid execution on a narrower problem instead of trying to be everything to everyone.
As a non-AI transactional API it covers the basics well: a straightforward SMTP and REST interface, decent free-tier limits for a new project to get started on, and templates you can edit without touching code if you'd rather not. It doesn't have the fifteen years of track record that SendGrid or Mailgun can point to, and enterprise buyers doing vendor due diligence sometimes pass it over for that reason alone. For a smaller team already comfortable with MailerLite's ecosystem, though, or just looking for a clean alternative to the bigger, pricier names, it's a reasonable one to try first.
