Terminal coding agent tuned for Qwen models
Qwen Code is a command-line coding agent from the Qwen team at Alibaba, adapted from the Gemini CLI codebase and tuned for Qwen's coder models. You run it in a project folder and ask it to understand, edit and test code.
Since the models are open weights, you can use a hosted API or run them yourself, which appeals to teams with data-residency or cost constraints. The tool also works with other OpenAI-compatible endpoints.
It is a good pick if you want a free, hackable agent and are happy with Qwen's coding quality. Check the output on harder tasks, as results vary by model size.
