Okta provides single sign-on, MFA, and lifecycle management across thousands of applications, letting IT teams control access and automate provisioning as people join or leave an organization. A 2023 breach of Okta's own support system — where an intruder accessed customer session tokens through stolen credentials — was a sobering reminder that even the company securing everyone else's identity infrastructure isn't immune to a targeted attack, and it pushed Okta to tighten its own internal security practices significantly afterward.
