Neon separates storage and compute for cost-efficient, auto-scaling Postgres, and its instant database branching lets developers create isolated copies for testing LLM-driven workflows without touching production data. Databricks acquired Neon in 2024, which says something about how central a fast, branchable Postgres has become to how AI applications actually get built and tested.
