Muse Image

Muse Image is Meta's first in-house AI image generator, built by Meta Superintelligence Labs and rolled into the Meta AI app, Instagram Stories, and WhatsApp. Rather than mapping a prompt straight to pixels, it behaves more like an agent — calling its own search and coding tools mid-generation, checking its own output, and revising before handing back a result — and it supports edits sketched directly onto a photo, replacing Meta's earlier reliance on third-party models from Midjourney and Black Forest Labs. A companion video model, Muse Video, was previewed alongside it.
