Firebase Studio

Firebase Studio is Google's cloud workspace for building full-stack apps. It combines a Code OSS-based editor, Gemini assistance and an app prototyping agent that can turn a prompt into a running Next.js or similar project. Everything runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install.

It connects directly to Firebase services such as auth, Firestore and hosting, which removes a lot of glue work. Teams already on Google Cloud get the smoothest experience.

It is still evolving, and outside the Google ecosystem the appeal drops. For prototyping a backend-connected app quickly, it is a solid free starting point.
