DALL-E 3 generates high-quality images from detailed prompts and lives inside ChatGPT, interpreting instructions more accurately than its predecessors. OpenAI has since shifted its default image generation toward GPT-4o's native image model, which handles text rendering and complex compositions noticeably better, so DALL-E 3 is increasingly the legacy option rather than the cutting edge — still solid, just no longer the newest thing in the room.
