Base44

Base44 is an AI app builder that turns a plain-language description into a working web application, complete with database, backend logic, authentication, and a deployed frontend. Instead of a drag-and-drop canvas, you describe what you want in a chat-style interface and it generates and hosts the app itself, so there's no separate step of exporting code and wiring up infrastructure. It bundles in integrations for things like Stripe, email, and Google Workspace services, letting generated apps plug into tools people already use.

The target user is someone building internal tools, small business apps, or customer-facing utilities without a dev team on hand: founders, ops and product people, and non-technical builders who need something live quickly rather than a polished custom platform. Wix acquired Base44 in June 2025, about six months after it launched, and it has continued to grow fast since, reportedly passing a couple million users and significant revenue within its first year as a standalone product under Wix.

What sets it apart from typical no-code tools is that it skips the visual builder metaphor entirely and treats the whole app, not just the UI, as something generated from a prompt and hosted for you. That end-to-end, no-export approach is also its main limitation for more technical teams, since customization happens through further prompting and platform settings rather than direct code access.
