About

Alchemy is a blockchain development platform that provides node infrastructure and APIs for building Web3 applications. Instead of running their own Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base, or Optimism nodes, developers connect through Alchemy's managed infrastructure, which handles the scaling and reliability problems that come with querying blockchain data directly. The platform grew out of work at Coinbase and counts many of the largest crypto apps and exchanges among its users.

Beyond raw node access, Alchemy layers on enhanced APIs for things like NFT metadata, token balances, transaction simulation, and webhooks that notify apps when specific on-chain events happen. It also offers a Supernode multi-chain RPC layer, an account abstraction and smart wallet toolkit, and a gas-sponsorship product, aimed at teams that want wallet and onboarding experiences that don't require users to hold ETH just to pay gas. Developer tooling like the Alchemy SDK, a Composer/mempool watcher, and a free-tier sandbox round out the offering.

The company positions itself as infrastructure rather than an end-user product, so its customers are engineering teams at wallets, exchanges, NFT marketplaces, DeFi protocols, and gaming studios who need dependable chain access at scale. Its main competitors are Infura, QuickNode, and Moralis, and Alchemy differentiates mostly on reliability, breadth of supported chains, and the depth of its enhanced API layer on top of plain RPC access.
