Adobe Firefly AI Background Remover

Adobe Firefly AI Background Remover is a free, browser-based tool that uses artificial intelligence to isolate the subject of your photo and erase the background in seconds. There is no manual masking, no selecting and no design experience required. Upload a JPEG or PNG image, let the AI detect your subject, and download the result as a transparent PNG, ready to drop into any design, presentation or social post.

The tool detects edges automatically and preserves fine details such as hair, fur, product outlines and transparent objects. It works on people, pets, product shots, illustrations and complex graphics, which makes it a strong fit for e-commerce product photography, YouTube thumbnails, headshots, portraits, marketing assets and social media content. For best results, use a high-resolution image with clear contrast between the subject and the background.

What sets Adobe Firefly apart from standalone cutout apps is what you can do next. Once the background is gone, keep creating without leaving the platform: generate a brand-new background from a text prompt with the Background Generator, place your subject on a solid color or studio backdrop, make targeted adjustments with Generative Fill, upscale the image, expand the canvas, or turn your subject into a sticker. You can also pull your image into Photoshop for finishing touches or bring it into Adobe Express to build flyers, posters and infographics. Firefly runs in your browser and on mobile, so you can upload, remove the background, then download or share straight from your phone or tablet. Paid plans that include premium generative AI features also unlock bulk background removal through Firefly Creative Production, which lets you queue multiple images and replace backgrounds with a solid color or an image of your choice.

How it works: log in to Adobe Firefly with a free Adobe account, upload your photo, select Remove Background, and download your transparent PNG.
